The golden angle is 2π / φ², with φ = (1+√5)/2. Seed n sits at r = c √n, θ = n times that angle.
The angle is badly approximated by rationals, so seeds do not pile up. Clockwise and counterclockwise arms are usually consecutive Fibonacci numbers.
